Sony S1 & S2 tablets android 3

The tablet computer is becoming more and more popular as people are looking for advanced technology today. Apple is set to find another competitor in Sony with the company poised to launch its first tablet computers, codenamed S1 and S2.

The gadgets are expected to hit the store shelves by the end of 2011. Both the tablets will be running Google’s Android 3.0 OS. Google’s Android OS is at present the fastest growing mobile platform and is looking forward to occupy 38% market share by the year 2015.

Sony is going to be a late entrant in the tablet PC revolution given the fact that Apple has already revolutionized mobile computing with its iPad by launching it in April 2010.

S1 is a conventional 9.4-inch tablet which is flat and shiny. The tablet will be powered by a Tegra 2 chip, or rather the new Quad-core Tegra chip. On the other hand, S2 features dual touch screens of 5.5-inch which opens up like a flip phone. Both the tablets from Sony are said to be the first to enable the use of PlayStation games.

Apart from the Android Honeycomb OS, the tablets will be bundled with several other add-on features from Sony like the usage of the DLNA wireless streaming standard which allows the music and video transmission to TVs as well as stereos.
